Skills Support for the Workforce

Gloucester based Marketing and Creative Company, Mosaique boost their technology skills with fully funded training

Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) is a programme developed to upskill employees within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Gloucestershire. They provide recognised accredited qualifications and bespoke training courses to enhance your employees’ skills, increase the competitiveness of your business and boost the local economy. Skills Ladder is part of Serco’s network of expert organisations chosen to deliver the SSW programme in partnership with GFirst Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). SSW is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the Education and Skills Funding Agency.

Paul Carter role is Chairman of Mosaique. This SME business employs around 15 people in Tewkesbury. Paul has worked for the company for 5 years and is one of the founding partners.

Paul felt he and some of the other staff at Mosaique needed to get upskilled with Technology. Although they are using lots of modern technologies, they felt they may not be using them to their best effect.

After having several consultations with Skills Ladder Ltd, Mosaique felt that the Skills Support for the Workforce program was a good fit for them, especially as they could choose to have small group sessions that would take place in their office. They wanted to be upskilled in word processing, email and how to get the most out of their Macs.

Skills Ladder Ltd and Serco worked very closely with Mosaique throughout the whole process. Dan Heaford met with Paul and helped construct a programme for them. Skills Ladder provided additional laptops for the company to use in their training sessions. The learners worked really well throughout each training session and saw their productivity using various apps and the Mac start to sky rocket.

Now that most of the training has been completed there has been some changes at Mosaique. Paul commented “The youngsters here (under 40’s) have grown up with technology and they have some incredibly good skills. The older ones amongst us, sometimes need a little extra help to get the most from the equipment we have and that is exactly what we have gained from Skills Ladder and Serco.”

“It has enabled me to stop having to delegate some tasks to my already busy co-workers. Which has pleased them no end!” Paul Carter

“Paul and his team were a real pleasure to work with, they were fun but focused hard on acquiring new skills.” Dan Heaford Operations Manager Skills Ladder.

Mosaique are seeking to expand and grow their business further in 2017.
