20th Apr 2020 Skills Support for the Workforce

The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting everyone nationally. Leaving many people not able to work from home and jobs disappearing leaving households without a stable income. On the other side, some employers are struggling to find people to fill vacancies.

‘Worcestershire Jobs Match’ is a new service to support all businesses across Worcestershire who are having to make immediate changes to their workforce as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, and for individuals who find themselves being made redundant or looking for work as a result of the current circumstances.

Individuals can sign up to the free service and be paired with local employers who are looking to fill urgent short or long-term roles. The team will also be able to direct individuals to avenues of further training to help them secure employment.

Sectors such as food, retail, logistics, care, and distribution are all receiving higher than normal demand to support the UK during the pandemic lockdown. As a result, many businesses in these industries are looking for new staff to support their growing workload and can use the Worcestershire Jobs Match service to fill these vacancies.

Worcestershire Jobs Match has been created by the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership and Worcestershire County Council and will be run through in a partnership approach between Worcestershire County Council and the county’s local growth hub Worcestershire Business Central. The Worcestershire Business Central team are also on hand to help guide organisations looking to find out more information and apply for some of the business support packages recently announced by central Government.

Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said:

"I am delighted that we are able to launch this crucial service in Worcestershire at this time. Both local organisations and individuals need support during this difficult time and Worcestershire Jobs Match will ensure that everyone is receiving the best possible opportunities to continue working.

I would encourage any individuals or businesses interested to contact the team as soon as possible so that you can utilise this innovative scheme.”
