Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) is a programme developed to upskill employees within small and medium-sized businesses in Gloucestershire. We provide recognised accredited qualifications and bespoke training courses to enhance your employees’ skills relating to Low Carbon or Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), increase the competitiveness of your business and boost the local economy.

Overview

We can work with you to develop a bespoke training programme relevant to your needs, and because this programme is co-funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), you can support your workforce at no extra cost to your business.

Eligibility

The following eligibility criteria apply for anyone accessing support through Skills Support for the Workforce in Gloucestershire:

  • Training must related to LEP Priorities of either STEM or low Carbon
  • The learner has to be employed by the organisation (or self-employed).
  • The learner has to be eligible to work in the UK – evidence will be required
  • The learner must be aged 19+ (no upper age restriction)
  • The training has to be delivered within the LEP region and by one of the contracted SSW Training Providers

Our specialism is in IT training and E-Learning. We deliver both privately funded and publically funded ICT training. Our training ranges from EL3 to Level 4. Prospect Training Services

Prospect Training Services (PTS) has run government funded and Ofsted Approved training for over 20 years with 5 training centres across Gloucestershire delivering a variety of different sector skills such as Traineeships, Work Experience, Building/Construction Skills, Car maintenance, Health & Social Care, CSCS Cards, Functional Skills & GCSE, Health and Safety, Manual Handling Training, CV workshops. We are a Functional Skills Test Centre which allows us to address literacy and numeracy deficiencies by embedding this within the vocational training.  PTS also offer Apprenticeships in Business Administration, Customer Service, Team Leading, Management, Adult and Health & Social Care. 

As we work with over 6,000 employers, we are best placed to offer Traineeships which are a tailor made programme of support for young people, aged 16-24, who want to work, but who need extra help to gain an apprenticeship or a job.  This programme gives young people the opportunity to develop the skills and workplace experience that employers require for their long term development and career but we also support with maths, English and ICT support as well as the employability skills that they need to progress. 

All our delivery is blended through classroom, remote or online to suit learner and employer needs.

HR Champions Limited

HR Champions Ltd have been delivering Management Development training since the business was established in 2000. We achieved ILM (Institute of Leadership & Management) accredited status in 2002. Since then, developing managers to become outstanding leaders has been our niche.

Management Development training is our specialism; focussing on the key skills that improve productivity through more effective management.

We have courses and workshops for all levels; from growing effective teams to enabling your rising stars to transition to a Supervisor or Team Leader role through to First Line Manager. Our Senior Team and Director level training takes a strategic approach to people management.

Training is largely classroom based and delivery encompasses a range of methods such as individual and syndicate work, games and exercises to match people’s individual learning styles.

Courses are of two, three and four days, usually spread over a period of several weeks to minimise the impacts of having staff out of the business but more importantly to enable delegates to gradually and effectively implement their new skills and knowledge in the workplace.

The Construction Skills People Ltd

CSP are an experienced and proactive company working to meet the training needs of employers and the unemployed.  We work with different client groups including funding partners, the ESFA, JCP, employers, LEPs and DWP Back to Work Providers.  We offer qualifications which meet the CSR requirements of employers and deliver programmes to meet the needs of unemployed people.


Delivery of QCF NVQ programmes to employed learners would take place at the learner’s work location, delivery of workplace learning activities are undertaken on-site at the learners place of employment through On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) – where all training and assessment is undertaken whilst the learner is working thus minimising downtime for the employer and learner. 

Our primary focus is the delivery of Construction qualifications at Levels 2 to 6, covering diverse programmes such as Construction Operations, External Work Insulation, Formwork, Occupational Work Supervision and Controlling Lifting Operations. Our offer enables employers to upskill their workforce and gives them additional benefits such as complying with Section 106 agreements, developing a careers path for their workforce and planning staff development activities for fur future Managers and Supervisors.  We work with construction employers ranging from micro business up to large international companies, our staff have delivered training to learners on my many key projects such as Crossrail, Hinkley Point C, housing developments and infrastructure projects.   In addition we also offer a range of programmes in the Adult Social Care sector  with the opportunity to progress onto an Apprenticeship, we also offer programmes in Logistics focussing on the Warehousing and Storage sector. 

We also deliver programmes to unemployed people, we would arrange a course based on a specific need that has been identified by an employer/employers and target individuals from JCP and Back to Work providers to promote the training opportunity with a guaranteed interview.


In addition to the delivery of NVQ programmes, we can offer Apprenticeships in Adult Social Care, Management, Administration and Logistics.  We also deliver a number of compliance programmes such as CDM Regulations, Safe Handling of Medicines etc.
