Skills Support for the Workforce

Fresh Ground Consultancy

Fresh Ground Consultancy is a small digital business based in Lichfield which specialises in bespoke customer relationship management software and business software development.

A key challenge the business was experiencing is finding appropriately skilled staff to support the business as it expands.

How SSW helped

Tailored Approach

CPC Training Consultants, one of the expert training providers chosen to carry out the Skills Support for the Workforce programme, conducted a training needs analysis with the business to identify which training the business could benefit from.

The business was particularly keen to train a young new recruit in software development so they could develop and grow with the business. It was identified that the Level 2 Digital Skills for Work course would be an ideal starting point for this employee.

The Training

The course was online and interactive, and also included tutor support to encourage the employee.

As the Skills Support for the Workforce programme is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the Education and Skills Funding Agency, the training was accessed at no cost to the business or individual.

The Impact

The training has helped to develop the employee and has given the business a good insight into the ability of the employee. The training alleviated the skills gap and the employee has now been given extra responsibility.

Furthermore, as a result of the training the employee has been able to progress onto an apprenticeship. CPC Training Consultants worked closely with Fresh Ground to help the business to find an appropriate provider and apprenticeship to further support the employee’s development.
