Skills Support for the Workforce

Trident Security Ltd

Nottingham-based Trident Security Ltd has over 20 years of experience in the security industry. The company continues to expand on its knowledge and evolve with the changing times to provide up to date and customer focused security services. The company’s 30 employees are highly trained in door supervision, CCTV, key holding, surveillance, customer service and more.

Trident Security were unsure about the extent SSW training would benefit the business but after meeting with Pilot Training, the company were informed about spectator safety qualifications which would enhance the business and help to secure more work.

How SSW supported Trident Security

Staff motivation is a challenge for the company and with the security industry being so competitive, it is important for their staff to be reliable and professional.

The company heard about the Skills Support for the Workforce programme (SSW) when Pilot Training, one of Serco’s expert training providers, got in touch. Pilot Training conducted a training needs analysis which identified which courses would benefit the staff and a plan was put in place to ensure all the employees could work through the training at a pace to them and the business.

20 employees undertook the Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events. This training was needed to support the ever-changing requirements of governing bodies and to upskill staff to ensure they deliver a first-class service.

As the SSW programme is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the Education and Skills Funding Agency, Trident Security were able to access the training at no cost.

The training was delivered at a time and location to suit the learners and company, with observations being carried out in evenings and weekends to fit around shift patterns. Please note the training took place pre-COVID.

To date, 14 employees have completed the course, and 1 employee has completed the Level 3 Award in Assessing Competency in the Work Environment and is now working towards achieving a teaching qualification.

Having completed the training the staff now hold recognised qualifications which means the company is able to meet the requirements of governing bodies. The staff are more aware of potential problems and how to deal with them in a professional manner, and the training has also helped them to work closer as a team.

Trident Security felt fully supported by Pilot Training from the start and plan to continue working with them to fulfil their training needs, including mandatory training for new recruits.
