Will joined the Restart Scheme with gaps on his CV and was unsure about how to look for and find a job. Will also lacked confidence with interviews and required support with interview preparation. 

Working with his Job Coach, Tanvir Ahmed from Serco, Will attended CV Building workshops followed by one-to-one coaching sessions with Tanvir to help him apply what he’d learnt to his own CV and tailor it for the retail jobs he was interested in applying for. Following this, Will had an online job searching session with Tanvir to find suitable roles that he could apply for. Next, Tanvir arranged a mock interview session for Will to build and practice his interview skills to be ready for when he was offered a job interview. All these sessions aimed to help Will address and overcome the challenges he had faced during his initial job searches.

Tanvir worked with Will to keep him motivated throughout his journey on the Restart Scheme and gave him manageable targets on the number applications he should aim to submit each week. While searching for permanent retail roles, Will successfully landed a temporary retail job within the Commonwealth Games Store which helped him gain and demonstrate recent experience on his CV. With this work experience and further support from Tanvir with job hunting, Will was successful in a job application to Sports Direct and is now a permanent employee with the national retailer.
