7th Jul 2023 Adult Skills for Work

Victor works in the construction industry as a cladder fitter. When new site regulations where implemented, Victor needed to upskill to comply with them as well as progress in his career. He needed to complete NVQ qualifications to do this.

Victor already had his Level 1 NVQ, so he needed to achieve his Level 2 to allow him to support a learner in the workplace and demonstrate his work ethic to his manager; this would also lead to further career progression.

Victor was keen to learn for many reasons. He wanted to work safely, produce work to a high standard and continue to develop skills and knowledge on site by shadowing his supervisor and to gain further work with the current contractor.

Upon completion of his Level 2, Victor was promoted and will receive a pay rise. He said:

“The qualification helped me to gain new skills and knowledge that are helping me to work safe and complete work in suitable time slots”

Victor is keen to continue to grow and further develop his skills to progress with the current contractor and gain more responsibility by enrolling on and completing a NVQ Level 3 Supervision qualification in the future.
