UK Trade and Investment (Devon, Cornwall and Somerset) was the government department that helped UK based companies succeed in the global economy. The service was delivered through International Trade Teams consisting of Advisers supported by UK based specialists in 96 overseas markets. Competitiveness aims to support a step change in the international performance of companies and to attract international investment. The enhanced Convergence service was designed to produce significant economic impact in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.
Export Cornwall – UKTI Convergence Service made it easier for eligible businesses in Cornwall to access the information, skills and advice they need to make the most of the export opportunity. They helped businesses embrace new opportunities as well as help them deal with any challenges they encounter as their build their business overseas. The advisory team included business people from across Cornwall, all of which are successfully trading overseas.
The Digital Marketplace provided workshops throughout Cornwall, Devon and Somerset highlighting the benefits of Selling Online and Selling Online Internationally. The aim was to up skill local businesses to enable successful adoption of ecommerce and promotion of their goods and services online, in the UK and internationally. Funded as part of the Plymouth and SW Peninsula City Deal project.
Social Enterprise Focus Cornwall service aimed to increase the number and size of contracts being won by facilitating business development, collaboration and engagement of potential product and service buyers. All support and activities offered through the project were paid for by the ERDF Convergence Programme and free to eligible clients and partners.

The aim was to create a sustainable rural economy through developing a network of rural enterprise hubs.
Devon County Council funded a project which offered a range of business support services including: a limited amount of voucher funding for businesses looking to make a step change; Funding towards skills training for your employees and access to free online marketing tools to help you put your marketing plans into action, boost sales and stay ahead of the competition.
