Inspiring Families

Rowan attended the Inspiring Families programme after being out of work for a long time.
Rowan had very low confidence and attended Employability Training including presentation skills, which enabled him to build his confidence and improve his presentation skills in front of others within the Group. Rowan received a certificate for the successful completion of the Training, which gave him a great sense of achievement. He also felt empowered and passionate about his future.
The Inspiring Families programme is an initiative designed to help individuals facing multiple and complex family issues to get back into work. It is funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund. East Thames Housing is part of Serco’s network of expert organisations chosen to deliver the Inspiring Families programme on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions.
Rowan was then introduced to East Thames’ Job Broker. The Job Broker works with customers who are now job ready, as they have been working hard with their adviser to overcome barriers into Employment.
Rowan is now employed working for a mobile phone provider, serving customers and giving advice on products.
Serco delivers the Inspiring Families programme in Haringey, Hackney, Enfield, Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Greenwich, Barking & Dagenham and Havering.
