10th Mar 2020 Skills Support for the Workforce

Business Innovation Magazine - Iss. 18, March 2020

Business Innovation Magazine is a regional source of business and industry news covering Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire, the Oxfordshire & Thames Valley region, Coventry and Warwickshire, Worcestershire & North Wiltshire.

With over 10,000 print copies per edition alone, SSW were delighted to feature in the magazine's 'Regional Power Houses - Driving the economy' edition. The one page advertorial looked at how the SSW programme is supporting female learners to upskill and reskill to bolster the workforce in Coventry and Warwickshire. With an ongoing programme focus to support women in business, this issue had particular relevance with the March's launch coinciding closely with International Women's Day on 8 March 2020.

SSW provides funded, recognised and accredited training which can be used to support women in business to progress to the next level. Over 6,000 female learners have now taken advantage of funded skills training to upskill and reskill within their employment setting. The article looks at Coventry-based restaurant Esmie's and how management worked with PET-Xi Training on behalf of SSW to reskill front of house staff in a Customer Service NVQ.

Fleur Sexton, MD of PET-Xi said:

"In the current financial climate, employee development training like the SSW programme is invaluable in helping businesses to flourish and grow. Skills growth is supporting employees not only to stay in secure employment but also to progress, by gaining more responsibilty and improving their earning potential."
