About us

Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) is a government training programme tailored to the needs of businesses.

Serco is delivering this programme through a network of high quality training providers in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (sector specific), Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly (for individuals), Dorset, Swindon and Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, South East Midlands, Coventry and Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Stoke and Staffordshire.

7,000+ Businesses have benefitted from fully funded training for their workforce

Under the 18-month programme Serco is working in partnership with Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) to provide a range of bespoke training programmes and qualifications including IT, leadership and management, as well as vocationally-relevant courses targeting specific areas of improvement. The training is designed to meet skills gaps within local businesses, with a focus on the LEPs’ priority sectors to help boost the local economy in each area.

Serco is experienced in delivering this type of skills training to meet LEP priorities. We delivered the previous Skills Support for the Workforce programmes that started in 2013, supporting 1,500 businesses with training for their workforce and benefitting over 6,000 employees.

These programmes are co-funded by the European Social Fund and Education and Skills Funding Agency.
