Serco supports local Black Country Academy

26th Feb 2021 Skills Support for the Workforce

Serco have provided CV guidance and conducted mock interviews with a number of Year 10 & 11 students at Bluecoat Church of England Academy.

On 12th February 2020 Laura Johnson, Serco Partnership Coordinator, spent the day discussing employability and employment opportunities in the area as well as discussing the softer skills required to develop in the world of work.

This involved going through what a good CV should look like, how to present yourself professionally and how the students should conduct themselves in interviews, to give them confidence when applying for jobs.

The feedback from the students and school has been fantastic. Richard Farmer, who organised the event says: “Despite many of the students being initially nervous of the event, they all felt that it was very useful and a great opportunity for them.”

Laura says: “I found it really rewarding to help the young people and give them the confidence for their next step.”
