Spears Worldwide Security

Spears Worldwide Security Ltd, a security contractor based in the Black Country which supplies stewarding and security for events.

The business has several contracts with local football grounds and also needed to get ready to support the Commenwealth Games. Furthemore, as the business is regulated by several agencies, continued investment in training is required.

 

How SSW helped

Pilot Training, one of Serco’s network of expert providers chosen to deliver the SSW programme, completed a training needs analysis with the business which identified the training courses which would benefit their staff. 

35 staff members completed the NVQ in Spectator Safety, and the management team achieved an award in Education and Training to enable them to confidently train their staff.

Three team members are also completing an award in Assessing Competency in the Workplace to enhance development across the business and to continue measuring and monitoring of staff.

As a result of the training the business has been able to:

  • Increase job opportunities for the community by opening vacancies to job seekers with no security or stewarding qualifications, safe in the knowledge management team can deliver this training and adhere to Green Guild for Safety at Sports Grounds
  • Diversify and grow the business delivering training for other security companies
  • Prepare for the Commonwealth Games
