Skills Support for the Workforce

Bedfordshire Carpentry Company benefits with fully funded training through Skills Support for the Workforce.

Skills Support for the Workforce (SSW) is a programme developed to upskill employees within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in South East Midlands. It provides recognised accredited qualifications and bespoke training courses to enhance your employees’ skills, increase the competitiveness of your business and boost the local economy. SR Partnership Ltd is part of Serco’s network of expert organisations chosen to deliver the SSW programme which is co-financed by the European Social Fund and the Education and Skills Funding Agency.

Lee Todd is the Health and Safety Officer at PJA Carpentry in Wyboston, Bedfordshire.

PJA specialise in new build houses and or flats and SR Partnership have had the ability to provide lots of their men with Level 2 NVQ qualifications thanks to funding through the SSW programme.

When asked what value this adds to their business Lee simply replied “it enables us to be 1 step closer to 100% CSCS” PJA will continue to train workers to enable them a career within the construction industry for as long as necessary and will always appreciate funding help if its available.
Several of PJA’s candidates had a 5 month completion time which they are extremely happy with. SSW funding is completely new to Lee Todd and PJA and he has found the whole process very efficient and an overall great experience. Lee said “Thank you SR Partnership, Serco, ESF and ESFA!”
