Restart Scheme

Cost of Living Roadshows advise over 1000 Participants with wrap around support

15th Dec 2022 Restart Scheme

With many struggling with the cost of living, it was important for the Restart Scheme to ensure Participants have access to up-to-date information, advice and guidance on topics including energy bill increases, debt management, adult education courses and mental and physical health.

The first event took place in Birmingham on 2nd November, followed by Coventry on 29th November and Walsall on 7th December for those in the Black Country.

In total, we saw over 1,100 Participants and Job Seekers, and many of the attendees were able to register their details with providers to receive immediate support, from emergency boilers to clothing for interviews, and actions to take to positively impact their economic situation. One participant even admitted the providers had solved all their debt issues!

Lindsey Hines from Job Shop Coventry said:

“I have received some fantastic feedback from our customers about how helpful each exhibitor was. Having energy providers attending was the main focus for our customers and overall, it was a brilliant success so a massive thank you (Serco Restart Scheme Partnership Coordinators) for setting this up.”

Andy Stevens (LEAP):

“It has been a great opportunity to promote our free service aimed at helping people keep warm and reduce their energy bills without costing them any money. Never attended an event that has been so busy and well promoted, we are glad of the opportunity to raise awareness of support services available for local residents.”

One Restart Scheme Participant said:

"All the providers were very interesting to talk to, I have taken a lot of information and flyers, I will go home and take the action I need to” .

Thank you to Birmingham Job Centre, Coventry Job Shop and Walsall Council for hosting these events!
