Daniel secures Support Worker Job as part of the Restart Scheme

2nd Aug 2023 Restart Scheme

Daniel had been out of work for over 10 years and was battling mental health issues and anxiety. Daniel wanted to work in a role that helped others as he had recently completed his Level 2 Certification in Health and Social Care, but was unsure what kind of position would be suitable. Joining the Restart Scheme, Daniel was supported in his job search through a variety of workshops such as Reed in Partnership Wellbeing and Employability Skills Training. These workshops helped Daniel to develop his interview skills, update his CV and learn how to search for jobs effectively.

Daniel’s Work Coach, Victoria Cluderay from Reed in Partnership, supported Daniel with his short- and long-term job goals, with later sessions focused on building cover letters for the roles he was applying for. Daniel also completed additional qualification in Counselling Skills with a focus on care work.

As a result of the Restart Scheme, Daniel received a job offer as a support worker in a care home and is now looking at a long-term career in mental health to support others who deal with anxiety.

Daniel said:“I am excited to be working and really love the job. Everyone is nice and I appreciate the support from Reed”.
