Restart Scheme
David's journey on the Restart Scheme began in November 2024, marking a significant turn in his life. Prior to joining the programme, he had been solely focused on caring for his 19-month-old child, as his baby's mother was battling cancer. This situation had kept him away from the workforce for an extended period, making it challenging for him to secure employment.
Upon entering the Restart Scheme, David engaged wholeheartedly in the training provided, determined to make a positive change. His commitment was evident, and he soon explored additional support offered by the Restart Scheme, including travel assistance, which would ease his commute to potential job opportunities.
It had been a long time since his last job interview, which added to the pressure of re-entering the job market. However, his persistence paid off when he received a call from the recruitment team at McQueens Dairies, a family-run company known for reviving the classic doorstep milk delivery across the UK, inviting him for an interview.
His preparation and the skills he had honed during the Restart Scheme training shone through during the interview. David was successful and was offered the job, with a start date set for the 17th of January. This opportunity marked a new beginning for David, not just professionally but also in providing stability for his family during a tumultuous time. His journey through the Restart Scheme had equipped him with the tools and confidence needed to move forward, embracing the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead.
