Edmound secures two roles thanks to Restart Scheme

9th Sep 2024 Restart Scheme

Edmound was unemployed and facing eviction by his landlord, who wanted to renovate the property. Joining the Restart Scheme, Edmound was assigned Diana Burke from Workpays as his Job Coach. During their first meeting, Diana noted that Edmound had a strong CV, with previous roles in Admin/HR, as a Care Worker, and as Warehouse and Bar staff. This meant that Edmound was flexible for any role but was worried about his pending homelessness situation.

Edmound took on Diana’s advice and registered with various employment agencies for immediate start jobs and applied for various roles on WM Jobs such as Admin, Customer Services, and Care roles. Edmound focused on employment which could aid his chances of getting another property, as the homelessness team is inundated with claimants in the same situations, while Edmound relied on friends for shelter.
Diana gave Edmound contacts to inquire about vacant properties around the Wolverhampton area. Upon hearing about Edmound’s living situation, a colleague on the Restart Scheme offered to assist by contacting her friend who is a private landlord.

A meeting was arranged for Edmound to speak with an Employment Advisor for companies Diana had sourced for employment in Warehousing, Security, and Care Work. Edmound attended a couple of interviews but unfortunately was not successful.

After applying for other jobs, Edmound was contacted by WSL (Wolves Solutions Ltd), who offered him an Event Steward role for the Gay Pride weekend in Wolverhampton. Edmound happily accepted the role.

Edmound was further contacted by the Tudor Employment Agency to serve as a Production Operative at the House of Lancaster. This position would require Edmound to work from 8 am to 4 pm during weekdays, initially on a temporary basis which could potentially become a permanent one.

Due to his hard work and the help of the Restart Scheme, Edmound successfully secured two job roles. He has temporarily moved back to his mother's house until he is financially stable enough to rent his own place, for himself and his dog.
