One of Serco’s delivery partners in Flint, People Plus, recently assisted in helping a young man back into work.  Kevin* had lost a lot of confidence due to being unemployed for a long period of time prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. After applying for many jobs in IT and Web Design, including roles below his skill set and previous salary, Kevin was not having any success and was continually being rejected for interviews.  This led to him feeling despondent and unsure of his future.

Kevin’s Employment Advisor and Employment Relations Manager at People Plus reviewed Kevin’s CV and worked with him to ensure it was up-to-date and relevant.  They also coached him on his confidence so he could feel more self-assured.

Based on Kevin’s interests and skill set, the Business Manager at People Plus, Darren Speed, knew a company that would be a suitable fit for Kevin. Darren reached out to the Managing Director of Valto, a company which specialises in IT services, and after reviewing Kevin’s details, he was invited for an interview.

Kevin gave a total of 3 interviews with the company and was offered a full-time Account Manager position. The role was perfect for Kevin as it was a role with variety, development opportunities and the ability to travel and work from home.

The In-Work team at People Plus will keep in regular contact with Kevin and offer support if required.

Kevin said:

“I want to say thank you for your help and recommendation. It has been very helpful and it wouldn’t have been a role or company I would’ve typically come across.”
