Talented baker, Sandra*, has a dream to open a café in South Wales. But with no formal qualifications, and being unemployed with a family to support, she considered it to be nothing more than a pipedream. Sandra’s Remploy Job Coach, Gillian, is determined to help her achieve her dream and to do this, Sandra needs some formal qualifications to support her CV.

Sandra got so much out of an initial employability course to improve her confidence, that Gillian immediately sourced some additional online employability courses, including a CV building workshop. Finishing these in record time and with a new-found motivation, Sandra went on to complete Level 1 Food Hygiene training under her own steam. Soon after, she completed the next course, Level 2 Food Hygiene in less than 24 hours!

Now with recognised qualifications under her belt, Sandra is being supported to look for suitable work experience and additional training. Gillian is delighted with Sandra’s record-breaking progress, knowing that any upskilling she does now is another step closer to realising her dream. Gillian says:

“Sandra recently attended a confidence workshop in our office where she acted as a role model, taking one of the shyer attendees under her wing. We are incredibly proud of the way Sandra has developed throughout her short time on the Restart Scheme and we look forward to watching her transition into working life in the future.”
